After much soul searching I have reluctantly decided to retire from this forum to “pursue other opportunities”. I especially want to send my regards to several friends that I have had an opportunity to connect with this past 15 months. This includes:
ZenSPIKE: a true gentleman with a gift of consistently offering sound and practical advice. I hope your aspirations in Cuenca come true, that you (and Txsbigfoot) get to open that animal shelter, tour Ecuador on your new bikes and that Minnesota wins the Super Bowl in 2014.
Nards Barley: a renaissance man with unbound curiosity of all things in his new homeland. I was consistently impressed with your willingness to learn and accept the smaller things that made Ecuador unique and special. You are the type of personality I enjoy playing golf with as you’re going to have an interesting time and learn something new.
bradypreston: I hope you get out of your volunteer efforts everything you desire and best of luck with your professional career. Use this time to broaden your horizon and see the endless possibilities ahead if you are prepared to make the commitment to succeed. Set bodacious goals for all facets of your life.
Txsbigfoot: I continue to believe you have ulterior motives for wanting to stop in Quito on your way to Cuenca.  Have a great time on the Tundra and drive safe.
mugtech: For a guy who bailed on Ecuador months ago I think “deep down” you are reconsidering perhaps to open that animal shelter with Neil. (FYI, folks here complain about the cold weather when it drops under 50) Thanks for your emotional support (especially with “big brother”) and enjoy the cruises.
rayjones50:  It was a pleasure meeting you and your lovely wife. If you are still in Quito give me a call to get together. You already have my home phone number.
lhandyandy: see you on a golf course. I play in most FEG tournaments and will be in Cuenca late October.
Sawman: a wealth of information on beach property and Panama. Plan on having us all over for a beach party.
Vinny66: Your willingness to assist expats relocating to Cuenca is impressive and needed.
eddstaton: You are a solid representative for IL and I appreciate your efforts to keep our expectations reasonable. We need to get you to post more to the forum.
Luna 2: Don’t forget to check out the blog: http://www.atruetalltale.wordpress.com
Please accept my apology if not mentioned above.
I will send some of you my “real” contact information tomorrow when I return from golf so we can still keep in touch.
It’s been fun communicating with everyone. Best of luck.
