Hi All,

For anyone from the UK needing to open a back account in Malta I came across this on HSBC website

Do you have to earn a minimum amount a month that gets paid into the UK account? The last time I checked for an International HSBC account there were conditions linked to this. On going to the website now it appears as if there are still 'minimum' conditions?

No sure on that, I'm going down to our local branch on Thursday to see about opening an account and I'll ask them about a minimum amount

Watch this space

I have opened HSBC account for exactly this reason. In the print it states they expect £500 per month to be deposited. Due to our situation I explained to them that, at the time, we could not do that for a couple of months. (I wanted to keep our money where it is until April 1st). I was told not to worry as they would send a letter to ask and receive explanations, that they would not simply close the account. After that date we will arrange for payments , so don't expect any issues.

Thanks for input :)

£100 set up fee? Is that normal?

KemKem

From the U.S, it is a $200 set up fee. That seems really high to me. We are just going to open one when we get there.
