Jamaican thinking of Dubai

Post new topic

reggaegirl

Hi Everyone,

Was thinking of applying to a post with a UN agency which is based in Dubai but involves working with other Gulf States.

I have been looking at the blogs about living in the Middle East but not much is said about life outside of work such as community groups or recreational places.

I also understand that Sharjah is the cheapest place to live but wouldn't mind more advice on Dubai and the culture.

Thanks

YEA-Man

Hi reggaegirl,
Have no fear moving to the UAE. I have just been offered a job over there in Dubai and I to had my apprehensions. I was there back in 95 so wanted to find out what the place is like now and from all accounts it is very different. As a woman you should have no problem as they cater for families coming to visit especially from Europe and other Western countries. The weather should not be a problem for you as I suspect you are from JA.
You should enjoy the experience. I was in Saudia just after the Gulf War.
