Teanglish in Vietnam

Cambodia is a cheaper place to live but a lower salary, think its $10 an hour, though I dont know much about the teaching scene there, just what Ive heard. There are loads of language centres in hcmc where I am based but some of them are not very good places to work in my experience, most offer $14-18 average an hour depending on school and your experience, but things are a bit more expensive than cambodia. Id like to know your honest opinion on china, that intrigued me about your post, I have a friend whos worked in china in the past and is now just arrived back there and he always has positive things to say about it on the whole so interested in your china experience? I always considered china but im settled in vietnam now but never know maybe like you I will fancy a change of scenery one day.

Firstly about teaching in China. In my expeience I have had to be more of an entertainer or friend than a teacher. The empahsis is usually on keeping the students happy.
You have lots more free time here. You go to school do your lesson and return home or chat with the staff or students. My room is inside the school so it only takes me 5 minutes to get to the classroom.
One drawback is the weather. Depending on where you're based the temperatures can be below freezing.
I don't think you will lose anything by giving it a try. The term is 20 weeks so if you don't like it you can just go back to Vietnam and pick up where you left off.

Depending on where you work, that would apply here in HCMC a lot.
Foreign staff here are usually brought in to practice speaking and listening, more often than not the students already have a good grasp of grammar etc. (Obviously once past the beginner stages)
