Hi,
I am planing to move to Dubai and I have been offered a salary of USD 3000 $ .This includes all the expenses and also there is no medical facility .Is it sufficient for a family of 3 (Me my wife and mum)in 2013?.I will be looking for a 2 bedroom apartment there.Can you suggest if it is a decent salary to start .I have no kids and will look to start a family in about a year ..Please advice

It is decent enough if you plan to live in Sharjah, the rents are cheaper, and you can start your life in the UAE without too many financial complications. Once you are up and running, shifting to Dubai will not be a hastle.

If you've landed a job, and are a great financial planner, then take the move !

Good Luck
Saud

Thank you for the reply.I will request some further info please
:
1] Rental 2 bedroom appartment =
2] Food (Family for 3 ,all adults) =
3] Travel (From Sharjha to Dubai every day to work) =

Any other misc expenses related to living in  Sharjah)=

This considering that my monthly expected income is USD 3000.

Tough choice, because you will go crazy commuting everyday between Sharjah and Dubai.  Difficult to balance a decent life with 2-bed room apartmnet in Dubai, unless you manage to find out from old buildings or something.  In addition to rent, there is utilities + house tax.

Thank you for the reply.I googled the distance and it is omly 19.4 kms .I don't have the hands on experience but can you tell me why it will be tough to commute, given the distance is not much?
Also if you could be king enough to let me know the break up of the expenses as i requested in the earlier post I will be great full.
I can surely decide whether to pick or leave the opportunity with your help.

in your salary package you can have good life
but better for you to rent house in Sharjah

There are many thousands who live in Sharjah and work in Dubai.  The highway between Shj and Dxb is always clogged with traffic jam, it is like a long parking lot, especially in the morning and evening.  It is normal to spend at least 2 hours each way everyday on the road. This is the state of affairs for private cars, and much worse when you rely on public transport.  Do not go by the distance measurement, that is not a reality.  In addition, Shj internal road traffic is so pathetic, you will spend half your life time commuting.

Iam looking to move Dubai from Pakistan in order to seek job in supply chain domain. I have more than 3 years of experience in the same field. Have done MBA (Supply chain management/ Finance) and currently on job.

Please suggest. I would be grateful to have your thoughts over it. Awaiting your positive response???

Dear Alok, mjrv has given you a clear picture about reality.

usd3k = aed11k p.m.

2BR in Dubai starts from 3800/- depending upon location, age of building, facilities.

DEWA- Electricity & water - again a nightmare for mostly all.

most of the good buildings have monthly maintenance charges which is not included in the rent;

nowadays traffic is a terror during peak hours [even in metro]

parking was always a LUCK.

Food: will not damage your purse if it is going to be home cooking.

decent outside food you have from [thali] aed9/- onward as per your choice.

if u wish to migrate , and if your job is in Dubai, prefer to stay in Dubai itself, try to get the accommodation from your company and also company transportation.

best wishes
