Interested to know more about Mauritius and Moving there, Settling Dow

Hi everyone. Been reading the posts about the country as I consider a long term wish to work in Mauritius.
How difficult is it to settle down, say, coming from East Africa? Where are the affordable places to stay in Port Louis - a 2 bedroom apartment, secure? How is security for a family of one?
What are the key things to know about before one takes an offer? What is an affordable salary in Port Louis for one who lives a pretty much simple life?

Hi PWN,

What is it exactly that you wish? Working in Mauritius for a period of time? Or working with the aim of settling down permanently afterward?

In either case, I would suggest you read the conditions about living and working in Mauritius. Here are two main links:

The next sensible approach would be to visit Mauritius on a Tourist Visa to get to know more about the country, the working environment and residential issues. You will be able to better decide after familiarizing with all the implications.

Thanks Kaviraj.
I checked out those sites and was better informed, thanks.
I have been reading quite a bit about the country for a while and have applied to a few jobs. I am looking at working there with an aim of settling down permanently perhaps, if what I have read about stands. Let me see how the applications progress.
It seems like a pretty much stable country, quiet, low population and things function, something one always wishes for as they look at where to settle down.
Thanks again.
