on the move

hello, my name is Marie. My mate Andre  and I are planning to move either to  Central or South America this winter. We live in Canada and want to get away.  Andre  lived 4 years in Central America. 3 years in Costa Rica and 1 year in Panama.  We are now looking at other locations like Nicaragua, Good weather and  internet access are a must also a place with uncomplicated immigration policies would be nice.  Any suggestions or information would be appreciated.  thank you.

Hi Marie,

I have helped many Canadians like you who are planning to expatriate to Central America.  Just recently, I returned from Costa Rica and one of my colleagues just returned from Nicaragua.  It sounds like Andre can paint a pretty clear picture of Costa Rica living.  However, I would recommend that you visit both countries before making a decision.  Costa Rica has more roads, a better infrastructure (internet/phone) and is generally more developed than Nicaragua.  Nicaragua is also beautiful, cost of living is less, as are properties but there are less places to go, the crime rate is relatively higher and for the most part, it is more third world than CR.

Let me know if you have more questions about the countries and when the times comes, I am happy to advise on how to save money when moving to Central America.

Cheers,

Bryce

Hi Marie,

My family and I currently live in Nicaragua as expats. We've been here for a year now and our tour of duty does not end until 2010. For my comment, kindly view the link below to another thread - someone previously asked for an opinion about moving to Nicaragua. Hope this helps.
