hello!
we are a norwegian couple currently living in oslo... now we are about to relocate, and looking into the possibility of living somewhere nice, like thailand. we want to open up a small business at the beach with a few bungalows, a yogahall and a small cafe. we are spending a few weeks there in april, to gather information. any tips as to how we should move about this matter would be great!

To open a bussines in Thailand you need to have a Thai partner that owns the 55% of the business (thai laws)Also, for each "farang" ( foreinger ) in the business, you need to employ two Thai nationals and pay them the social security.

Also, have a look in thaivisa.com/314.0.html for more info on all this.

Hey thanks for the exact info Luis. I plan to settle in Thailand after my retirement. It is been said that the place is beautiful but tough to live. You are staying in Thailand right now and could you tell us if it is good or bad to choose Thailand to live?

Thailand is awesome to live in. The only problem that you will find is that stupidity here hasnt got limits. In other words, common sense doesnt apply very often in this country, and it will drive you nuts if you are tryin to acomplish something in short ammounts of time. But that is about it, thailand is great to live.

Thailand is a tough place to open a business so don't invest any money you cannot afford to loose.

Retirement living in Thailand is great but can be aggravating if you allow the locals way of doing things get to you.  Check you sensibilities and western way of doing things at the border and you should be okay.
