Hi

I'm British, living in Denmark, planning to move to Hamburg in the future.  I am self-employed but plan to have a part time job alongside when I move down there - what does this mean for me with regards to health care?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Sarah!
If you are in the public health system in Denmark, you can apply to join public insurance in Germany as a voluntary member ( if you´re self-employed work earns you more money and you spend more time as a freelancer than as an employee).
You could also apply for private health insurance.
In either case: it is not simply a matter of signing a form..you need to provide proof of previous insurance the past 12 months.
If you are privately health insured in Denmark and have been the past 12 months or so, you cannot have public insurance here.
By the way, public insurance for freelancers is 14.9% of your gross income (worldwide income), capped at a maximum c. 700 euros a month
