job opportunities in New Zealand

Post new topic

varunkarthiik

Dear all,
I'm a mechanical engineer with 3+ years experience as a design engineer.  I am looking to migrate to new Zealand But I'm getting put off regarding job opportunities after going through this forum. I also have the option of migrating to Australia.  Which country is a better option? I really would prefer new zealand though.

Hello varunkarthiik.

A new discussion has been created from your message on the New Zealand Forum.

You may browse the discussion of the forum, to get more insights, so as to guide you in your choice.

In the meantime you can also post your resume/Cv in the Jobs in New Zealand section.

Thanks and good luck

Karen :)

I would suggest there are more job opportunities in Australia for mechanical engineers, particularly in West Australia.

For visa in formation www.immi.gov.au
For cost of living numbeo.com

Taxes are high in both countries, so are rents, cars, food etc.

Thanks a ton stumpy.
So I bet from your reply that it's tougher in new Zealand for mechanical engineers than in Australia.
My skill is listed in the website on the long term skill shortage list and as per the table I will score a maximum 60 points for my education. Will it still be tough?

Your choice as to which country you choose. Less job opportunities in NZ. Wages are higher in Australia.
