Labrador looking for a home

We have a labrador, we caleld him Moses, that is looking for a good home. We picked him up from the street and with a chip we traced the owner who said he was going to get him but only to take him to the vet to have him euthanised because he did not want him anymore. Typical.
The lab is lovely, he is 2,5 years old, has all papers (LOP for the breed but who cares), is lovely, gentle, playful, super friendly and simply a wonderful candidate for a new family member.
He limps on his front right leg because as a puppy he had broken his leg but the owner did not have it treated. It grew badly and now there is nothing that can be done, nevertheless the dog has a quality of life, he can walk, run, jump and play. On the website of the shelter he is currently in you can see some pictures and some movies with him.

If you would like to give him a home, please contact: sesimbra.bianca@gmail.com
This is Association Bianca, in Sesimbra, 30 kms south of Lisbon.

Hi! You should post in the Portugal classifieds > community.

Thank you!

We hope you find a new home for Moses. We couldn't believe there was another Moses. Our Golden is called Moses and so is the land we found here in Portugal. That's how we found this place. You can see our Moses on the blog http://welovemoses.blogspot.com/ .

Good luck

The Winters.

Reading these kinds of posts saddens and angers me with respect to how pets are treated in Portugal (though it also gives me a bit a hope seeing that there are people trying to make a difference). Unfortunately pet abandonment is a plague here in Portugal.

From what I've seen and read, there are three main causes of abandonment;
- owners purchase pets for their children, and abandon them when their kids lose interest in the pet,
- owners let their pets out of the house when they go on vacation, and then forget about them,
- hunters purchase large numbers of dogs for the hunting season and then abandon them at the end of the hunting season.

And of course pet abuse is not a crime in Portugal, since pets are, legally, property, and a property owner can do what he likes with his belongings.

Good luck with Moses! If I had the money, time and space, I would try to help out more...

By the way everyone, you can check out the Bianca Association website at http://www.bianca.pt/

I have given up trying to talk about how animals are treated in Portugal..... I just try to do my bit and see some of them going to good homes although sometimes I feel like Don Quichote. Moses found a good home, with a nice English gentelman living near Faro. In the meantime we found a 10-months old labrador whom noone claimed for 2 months and I think he is an example of a pet someone bought as a puppy for children and now it has grown and they don't want him anymore. So: his name is Jimmy, he is for adoption and you can find him here:
