Hello all the wonderful beautiful people
How many days are the Holy month Ramadan and does this period affect/slow down business or does it not affect business
Thank you Hugo

Josnuggles

Hi

Ramadam is 30 days

Eid is after and lasts a week

No food outlets open during the day

You can't eat, drink, smoke in public during Ramadam so workplaces need to give people who aren't fasting a curtained room to go to.

A lot of working hours are halved but most retail places open longer

Ramadam should end around the 8th August.

Thank you for the response and info

To add to what Josnuggles has mentioned, If you need to get things done at government offices and even some other businesses, plan ahead and add some slack time. Some people tend to get a little lethargic during Ramadan.

Josnuggles

All government offices should be open 8am - 2pm but some who aren't monitored closely will shut around 12noon if they can get away with it

It's based on the moon calendar so it moves back about 10 days every year. Eid is for 3 days but if any of those days falls on the weekend, then those days will move to the weekday as an official bank holiday.

I've even been told that you cannot play loud music in your car, neither chew gum in public too, during the holy month of Ramadan.

Well, technically you can play music in your car as loud as you want (it's not illegal) but doing it is disrespectful. Chewing IS illegal though.
