Credit Cards in Saudi

Post new topic

Hey!

I bank with Bank Al Rajhi in Saudi. So (stupid of me) thought to get a credit card in Saudi and applied via Internet Banking about 5 weeks ago. Never heard back from them.

Today I went into a local branch. Requested for a Credit Card and got told my company are not on terms with the bank so I cannot apply for it.

Although I get my pay in the Rajhi Bank, yet that wasnt good enough for them.

Have you ever gone through something of this sort? Can I apply for a Credit Card at someother bank?

Thanks.

See what bank does your company deals with and is on terms with them. Open a bank account with that bank and apply for a credit card from them, usually you would get a better rate that way

Hi, my response might be quite late but I believe you don't need to have a bank account to apply for a credit card at any bank. They would require you to submit your salary slip which should show a reasonable amount.

Usually this would be the case but I have been told otherwise.

Maybe I should walk-in another branch and see how it goes there.

Unfortunately, most if not all banks will ask you to open an account with them in order to get a credit card. This wasn’t the case last year, its a new regulation by SAMA (Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency). Another new regulation is that you will be asked for a letter by your sponsor stating your profession and income and the profession should  match with the one in your Iqama. After all this you will have to wait for their approval in aprocess that may take few weeks (10 days min)

I went through all this 3 months ago and the easy way out was by applying for a Pre-paid Credit Cared from your bank and it will take a week to get it.

Try NCB or SABB. They can provide credit cards without the need of an account. But, it will still be better if you open an account.
Other requirements will be common : company letter/salary details, iqama / passport copy.
