Single Working Mum - childcare

Post new topic

Phoenix123

Hi
I have been offered a job in Bahrain that I am very excited about. I will be coming alone with my child. I would like to know how after/before school care might work? What about school holidays? Is there any school that offers extended care? Any advice is appreciated

Hi New Zealander,

Welcome you again.

Seems like no one knows much about childcare.

I can't say anything about the schools, for I don't know.  Many expats arrange childcare with one of the numerous Filipina expats that are there.  It generally isn't terribly expensive.

You can actually get a responsible woman to come in days for $500 a month (maybe less).

Good luck in finding what you need.

Check with your employer about the dependent visa for your child. From what I've been told, mothers cannot sponsor their children. Only the child's father can sponsor the child. Some companies/individuals can get special permission for this. Make sure you're covered.
