Greetings to all the wonderful people in Malta and (Gozo as well)!!!!!!

Gozo seem so much like a country on its own and I was wondering if there are all the amenities like supermarkets, schools, clubs, public parks, hotels and so on and so forth that one may not even need to go to the main island except for official documents processing or embassies etc so why not settle in GOZO.

Feedback highly apreciated and thanks in advance

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and more :D
We feel there is more in Rabat than in Valletta (obviously many will not agree) but there is a lack of cinemas. However, that is more than compensated for by the other activities there are.
It's Gozo or nothing for us :proud

But then it all depends on you and what you want.

The only reason to go to the mainland from Gozo is government departments, Lidl and the airport. Now that most govt departments are in Gozo, and a Lidl is opening soon, the airport is the only attraction

did you see the announcement in the budget ?

GuestPoster566

I noticed that the cost of cement is to rise ;) but I did not read the budget statement in full.

So, I went looking and found this:

Other measures in the budget include the sum voted for the 'Cinema Digitalization Scheme' which will help the existing establishments on Gozo to upgrade their facilities to enhance the tourism product on the island.

I expect that is for the usual tourist audio/video presentations rather than the domestic consumer and will not increase the number of facilities.

Not a particular issue for me but just making an observation.

I take that to mean to the citadel cinema that closed earlier this year will be reopening as it closed due to the cost of buying digital equipment

Possibly, though we took family guests there and it was open at the end of August which surprised me as I too had thought it closed. I'm writing about the one that is on the right hand side of the street as one walks up to the Citadel and shows a film about some of the history of Gozo for 4€ (adult).

It's open for the tourist film about gozo but closed for normal films

Yes that's the one but I took my family there in August to see Gozo history film, so part of it was open.
