Hi All,
Don't mean to bore you all with this but i have just experienced my first Border run from Al Ain to Oman and wanted to post this for anyone having to do this for the first time and is anxious about it.
There is so much on this forum and others about the task in hand but i found that much conversations did not give me the exact information that i needed before i completed my first border run.
So i am going to post my experience for those who are in the same boat as i was.
Firstly, which border port to use?
Well after much research i decided to use the MEYZAD Border Port as this one was the most discussed and seemed to be the one everyone was suggesting for those of us WALKING ACROSS the border.
I arrived at the border port at 11am in taxi and the taxi driver kindly waited for me to return. I entered the post on the right hand side walking a few mins until i reached the border exit post on the RIGHT HAND SIDE (Small building with waiting room and two officials) presented passport for processing. On stamping the passport i paid 35DHS.
I then walked for ten minutes across the border to the Oman entry point. This is just past the roundabout in the large white building in the centre of the port.
On entering the building the Entry desk is to the Right of the centre atrium. If you are lucky it is a straight run through however there may be a bus load of tourists also there. I presented my passport and was given a form to fill in by the official. Basic form with just info from passport to be filled up. once this is filled represent with passport to the official they will then process. The Official asked if i was entering and exiting and i replied YES. They will give you both stamps there and then avoiding queuing for exit stamp again. This cost 50DHS cash. Once the official stamps your passport it is returned with a small white receipt. You are now free to return to the UAE, please make sure your passport has the correct exit and entry stamps visible before venturing back (Just in case)
I then walked back and as i exited the car port on the right hand side i presented the white receipt to the official in the car port.
Walk back ten mins to UAE side and present passport in the building on the right hand side. they will stamp passport (FREE) and give you a small blue piece of paper and you are ready to exit.
As you exit, present passport at car port on you left and official will print out a white form for you. There is an official waiting to collect the white print out and blue piece of paper as you exit the port have it ready.
Then that is it your Border run is complete. My taxi was waiting for me as i returned through the UAE MEZYAD Border port. The process in total took me about an hour or so.
I am an Irish national so im sure this process is the same for other EU members not sure about GCC or other nationalities.
Hope this helped anyone going through the process soon.
Can i suggest anyone who has taken other Border Ports to Do the same as i have here to alleviate anyone anxiety before completing the Border runs.
So long and take care.
J
