When any foreigners arrive to Vietnam for work or live, they need to register at local police. But you don't worry about this when you rent an apartment or a house or a villa. landlord will register for you. You need show your passport to landlord, he/she will register for you. Please pay attention, ask landlord to have register for you because you need temporary book for visa extension later.
