christmas bonus for nanny

Post new topic

Rany01

hi guys,

can someone give me an advice, please?

How much christmas bonus do you provide normally to your nanny?

I know, it depends on their effort and performance. But in general? 20, 40 or 100% more ot top to her regular salary?

Our nanny is from the philippines (there are everywhere nannies from the philippines :)) and we just want to give her something on top but not too much (comparable to the normal behaviour in Vietnam). If we give her too less she will be probably disappointed, if we give her too much she will expect always something like this :)

And furthermore, all of the philippines are comparing everything to each other and we don't want to give her nothing, too less or too much :)

Thanks!

Hi, Normally the Christmas bonus is one week's salary. If you like you can make it two as a good employer!

Rany01,

I've never heard of a Xmas bonus here in VN. I guess the best thing to do is give her what you would normally give during Tet if she was VN. 1 x her monthly wages.

Agreed with Budman and with that in mind are you giving her a bonus at Tet as well as now? She might be expecting Tet but not xmas so may want to clear that first.

Thanks for all infos!

But people on the philippines don't normally celebrate TET! So I have to give her nothing for TET, right?

slanka

Give her half month salary!

Rany,

Budman hit it right on the nose.  However, since your nanny is from PI, where people don't celebrate Tet, I think it is better that you give her her bonus on or around Christmas.

How much?  I would stick with the Vietnamese standard of 1-month salary, since you are in Vietnam.

Agree with Wild_1. She's Filipino, so don't worry about Tet, and follow the advice of others here as far as amount for Christmas.
