Bringing a firearm into Malta

Hello all, I have seen varied responses about firearms and emigrating with them. Does anyone know how this works in Malta? I have a .357 Magnum that I inherited and apparently can keep as a collector in Malta. But I need to belong to a club etc. etc. I have no-one in South Africa I can leave it with, and I doubt if I can just bring it over and hope to sort it all out in Malta when I land for the first time.

Has anyone on here ever managed to 'import' a pistol/revolver like this?

This company has a licence to import and export guns to and from Malta..
