Best you read through posts on the PNG forum as there are Filipino members on this forum.
Contact them for information.
The only safe places to stay are the major hotels which are expensive.

Hello silingan. Am formerly from Bugo, Magsaysay-del Pilar, Iponan then Tin-ao. Where are you heading at here in Papua New Guinea? Ensure you are going to a safe place.
