Word/phrase of the day

Post new topic

OBB

the Vietnamese language is always evolving.  words used just years ago give way to new ones.  i and hopefully other local Viets on this blog will help you understand the street language that is different from what you learn in the class room.

một chai - translated it means one bottle.   in Viet slanguage it means one million.

Word/phrase of the day eh?
I'd have to say -'' yet yet yet'''
It's a classic positive response to a request and with enthusiasm.

"Youtube."  When i say it western style my nieces/nephews look at me confused.   in VN its pronounced "ooh - tu - beh."

Sorry i havent contributed lately.   The last 2-3 weeks for some reason i couldnt open threads on this site.   It happened with touch screen devices.  Since i only have a tablet and smart phone i couldnt post.    Enough of the excuses.

If you get a message with the number 8 as in "toi thich 8" it means "to talk"   I originally thought it meant to "bath" haha.
