Hi Guys,

My son is born here in Malaysia and we are kinda confused on how we should continue with the process of getting him registered in the embassy as well as getting his passport. As of now we already have the Pink Malay Certificate of Birth. We were advised to have it translated to english and have it notarized.

I just want to inquire about the following :

1. Notarized documents :  Do we need to have it notarized by a Pinoy Lawyer or a Malaysian lawyer can do it?
*Acknowledgement of Paternity
*Translated Birth Certificate
*Passport Application form

2. How long does it take to receive the birth certificate and passport?

I hope that other members can share their updated experiences on this matter.

Thank you.

Jay

There are notary publics all over the place. Anyone will do.

Why don't you give your embassy a call?

If you are not Malaysian, and your child is going to have a passport from another country other than Malaysia, he will also need a dependent's pass to be legally resident in Malaysia. So it is important you start the process of getting his passport as soon as possible and get the paperwork competed so the application can be made.

Use a Malaysian Notary Public as you will be dealing with the Malaysian authorities from time to time and they will probably respond more positively if all the paperwork has been created and cleared in Malaysia.
