Don't drink the tap water!!!!!! Water bottles and delivery of 5 liter jugs is the way to go. Your compound market can probably help you with this.

Don't know about learning Arabic. Though I really struggle with helping my oldest do her Arabic alphabet. Numbers are easy.

My villa is wired 110 &220 with two prong round. Adapters are easy to find and cheap. You will replace them often

Water is actually very cheap as it is considered a daily need. They don't have a sewer system like you are used to and water has to be trucked in. Even the government says not to drink it. We also use our bottled water for cooking.

The plugs are not like in America. Think Spain & Mediterranean area. Though most appliances you buy here are 3 prong like in Northern Europe, It is very annoying. In my villa some of my outlets are set up where a 2 prong american style can be used so I don't need an adapter for my hair dryer, flat iron, or my husband's razor, but I am in a different compound,

Just a quick thanks to all those kind souls who contacted me on and off forum with tips and advice all heeded and all gratefully received!!

Aquafina is the best bottled water here for it is low in sodium or the baby water available in pharmacies and danubes.

Whether you like it or not you'll learn a little arabic here for most of them still do not know how to speak english. (Informal arabic though)

The sockets here are more of European style.
