Caja health coverage rates increasing dramatically

Post new topic

With Costa Rica's public health care system needing more money, the decision was made to increase rates for immigrants who hold a status "such as Pensionado or Rentista etc.".
How did you like the word immigrants?  LOL  Those people who claimed to have a high pension income will get hit the hardest as the new increases will be on a percentage basis.  Anyone who applies for Pensionado status from this day onward should only claim that they have $1,000 of pension income so as to pay less for health care.  There is still much confusion about what the new rates will be, as every employee at Caja has a different answer when asked that question, but that's only normal in Costa Rica.

If you have multiple pensions, with one at least $1000 this is the only one you need to 'declare'

You cannot claim to have a $1000 guaranteed pension if you do not have the official paperwork to prove it. This will be  be stated on your official paperwork that must be presented to CAJA and a new, certified copy must be presented again when renewing your cedula.
