Hi,

If the bank you use in your home country has locations in Vietnam can you access your cash via tellers and ATMs for free? There are HSBCs and Citibanks near where I live in the states and I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to open a new account...

Thanks!

It's free to withdraw amount from HSBC ATMs and Techcombank ATMs inside Vietnam . Overseas HSBC ATM's also can withdraw free of cost if you are a  HSBC Premier Debit Card Holder. Others has to pay some fee.
Citybank fee details here

I have a UK HSBC but not its not for free. Still pay the withdraw fee.

Is that a "Premier Debit Card"?
