Size of the island(s) - does it bother you?

Hi all

The one thing which could be classed as a negative for us with regards to moving there is the size of the place. It is obviously quite/very small.
Does this or has this ever bothered you or caused irritation?
Bumping into the same people/claustrophobia/ etc etc

It is a worry more for my husband than me

Thanks

Toon

In a word....... NO

ApolloTenerife

Ok., great. Thanks.

Size isn't everything (there got it off my chest). Anyway, I tend to look at it as a well placed land ideal for those visits to Sicily, Sardinia, Italy, North Africa, Greece, Turkey...........I think you get my drift here.

Cheers

Mike

Toon

i see what you did

HiTF5

It did cross my mind but after only a little research it looks like there is more than enough to keep us busy.

I suppose it depends on the individual but I guess if it gets boring it is time to move on.

(I fly out in 7 days! so excited)

This island is an enigma. It's small but huge, I have bumped into people that have lived in the same street as me in the Uk and yet I can bump into people that I haven't seen for years but only live in the next village here.

I have spoken to tourists, that have stayed a week and say that they have seen all of Malta and yet, I have been on holidays here since the 80's, lived here for 10 years, even been a sales rep here travelling everywhere but can still come across somewhere I have never been to.

When you have been here a while, a 3 or 4 mile distance can feel like miles away, so no, I don't get island fever.

Think about the major cities in Europe, they are larger than Malta but would you know everyone that lived in London? Would you know every street and shop?

Great post, thanks you. Shall show to my husband :) Really appreciate it!

When you are here it doesn't seem that small... Also think about how far you actually travel in day to day life where you currently live, back in the UK my place of work & all my family & friends lived within about 10 miles of my house. Even when I ventured further out to go shopping etc.. I hardly ever strayed more than 15-20 miles from my home. Besides it takes ages to get anywhere by car or bus here, so that will make places seem further away

Lol, thanks FlamingGalah :D
