Hi everyone

Does anyone know if there are any legal implications of driving to Malta in our van with things like bedding, lamps, photos, ornaments and the like please?  I understand that different countries have different criteria and would like to know about customs etc.  We are looking at shipping some stuff out and that will all be taken care of by shipping agents.  We are coming to Malta in Sept as we have a flat sorted out, by plane and staying for 6 weeks, then will go out again in November for 90 days and then the idea is to move out permanently this time next year. Any advice would be gratefully received :) many thanks

Welcome to the forum
There are no restrictions on bringing your own household goods into Malta.
No customs to pay on goods travelling within the EU, you just need to notify Malta animal welfare if a pet is to be imported.

This link explains your rights......

The only thing to worry about is the van itself, and if you are importing controlled products like guns, alcohol and tobacco. Also, if you purchased items VAT free within the EU (ie purchased for export), you will need to declare them.

Hi Terry

Many thanks for your very useful information. That's very good to know. Therefore it should be reasonably straight forward.
