Hello Everyone,

I am from India and arrived in Malaysia on Nov 29, 2014 and joined an MNC on Dec 24, 2014. In my company, they are deducting the tax around 12% everymonth. I heard like if I take leave of 2 weeks and go to India, will the tax be 26% after coming to Malaysia.? Is it true.? How do they calculate 182 days. ? Please let me know.

The rule is that if an employee is outside Malaysia for 15 days or more, counting their qualifying period for tax residency will restart on the day of their return, if they have not already completed 183 days in Malaysia and thereby become tax resident.
