Proof economic self sufficency

I'm EU citizen and in the preperation to get the e-Residence ID Card. My previous plan was to get it with self employment but the self sufficency route looks at the moment easier.
My bank isn't in malta and doesn't send bank statements as they are online accessible. They can probably send me some confirmation but would it have to be a original statement on this special paper or would a normal letter/copy be enough? Also would it have to be in english?
Has anyone experience what they accept as proof?

We just submitted a statement of or "worth" this was available online from  HSBC.
It just totals up your income ,investments, saving accounts etc and prints out a plain A4 sheet.

It worked for us!

yes, needs to be in English (or Maltese)

I should be, but as long as it's clear enough it doesn't have to be in English or Maltese. Mine wasn't, and while the lady at the counter warned me my application could be rejected if I submitted it with a statement in a language other than English/Maltese, it was in fact accepted.

Alternatively, a translated statement may be submitted together with the original, but the translation should be done by a certified translator.

yes, they have the right to demand its in English or Maltese, but may use discretion

Ok that sounds good as I can download something similar and print it. I just noticed it has the old address from outside of malta on it will see if that works. I have contacted the bank about an english version and will try it with that if they send me one.

the address doesnt matter - what matters is the name and the amount

Ok thanks in that case it shouldn't be a problem.

Sorry to hijack a slightly old thread, I thought it better than starting another, new one.

If my wife and I wanted to declare self sufficiency (which we think is best in case the 3 month period is not long enough to find work...though I do plan to arrive as self employed, that is a 'work in progress though), it is unlikely we would have the required (21k?) money in the bank. So that leaves us with the minimum weekly amount (was this 106 euro?)

Would declaration and proof of income from a rented property into our UK bank account (aprx £650) be sufficient to satisfy the requirement? Or would the funds need to be going into a Maltese bank account?

Thanks for any help,

David

There is no requirement to have a local bank account, merely proof of sufficient income
