Dear Bloggers - thread writers and forum members

Post new topic

jo-mo

good Morning to all of you around here

first of all i would like to wish you a nice peaceful weekend , and many thanks for all of useful info and contribution you have made in this forum .

as an expat who consider / about to relocate to Kuwait , i was normally hungry for as much info as possible to get some sort of a picture of how would it look like to work and live in Kuwait .

in my own opinion - and please forgive me for saying that- some comments and posts here are putting me and some of others off , i am sure of the good intentions of everyone , but i am speaking from other side who are not so sure any more about the move for family consideration ( safety and security of wife and kids ) , for formality reasons ( visas ,  driving licence ...etc) and some other minor issues.

my advice to some - if i may- please consider the readers impression being away and stepping into the unknown ( in a way) and make your info more objective , pass the info not your personal bad or good experience ( although i really and highly appreciate people who share their own ) as some may really play a role in deciding or at least confusing the decision of the new comers .

again apologies if any of my words sounded negative , i have been using and reading expat - blog forums and consider and appreciate every tip and info i get , but reading the Kuwait one gave me some sort of negative feelings towards the country even before stepping in it .

kindest regards

Jo-Mo

Dear @Jo-Mo I will highlight a very important point you mentioned. Sometimes we make decisions for which we need support rather than warning of what could go wrong. It's like someone taking a bungee jump and someone is standing the edge talking about the times when the rope broke.

Having said that, I still believe that it's up to the requester to filter the answers and take the answers that support the decision best.

As far as I'm concern I will take your point into consideration. Thanks for sharing :)

We appreciate the information, however if you want people to lie and paint a pretty picture about how nice and amazing the country is, you have come to the wrong place. you need to keep in mind that each and everyone one on this forum is an expat (or local) who has been here for a differing number of years, worked in different sectors with different managers and seen different things than what you will be seeing. everyone gives their personal opinion, not a generic statement.

as JFU said, it is up to you to distinguish and differentiate between the advice given, what to take and what to ignore.

asking the people on this forum, who btw are not paid in any way by the forum, and merely come here to assist those in need of it, to water down their responses so as not to scare off potential new comers will not really benefit anyone in getting the true gist of what life in kuwait is like.

yes, some people have had bad experiences and will share them, others have good experiences and share those to. in every aspect of life there is positive and negative, you need to strike a balance between the two, right?

this is the kind of information only people can provide, its influenced by their experiences, and not their expectations of how things should be.

i think it is a mighty effort on the part, and i personally thank each and every expat that i have seen come to this forum to ask questions and down the line become those that answer the very same questions (you all know who you are, you guys are awesome  :thanks::par: )

and finally, Jo-Mo, we appreciate you taking the time to point this out; thank you. in the end, your decision to come here will not be based on the random advice you read on a forum from complete strangers - in the end you must weigh the pros and cons from your side of moving here, factoring in such things as work experience, pay scale, education, cost of living, quality of living etc. and as you and everyone on this forum are different, so to are your factors and decisions.

take the advice as is, for to request it to be amended would be causing a great disservice to those offering their true opinions.
