Dear friends,

I'm italian and my partner is Brazilian and now we're living in Malta. I've found that she can bring an e-residence card based in my nationality but, to do it, we need to prove our relationship with documentary evidence (I found this info here: http://mhas.gov.mt/en/MHAS-Information/ … 014%29.pdf)

We don't have "documentary evidences" like a married certificate or some "partnership contract", but we made a lot of travels around the world together and we have all the stamps in our passports with the same dates, same destinations, same countries. Could I use this like the documentary evidence? If not, someone have an idea about what I can use to prove our relationship of more than 3 years (sometimes hard like any marriage ;)

Thank you!

ricky

Hi dear friend,

you are going to have a hard time proving your 'durable' relationship to gain residence for your Brazillian partner. THe only proof excepted here in Malta is having lived together for more than two years in Malta under the same address. Proof would be a rental contract under both names.

I went through the same with my American partner 5 years ago after we had been together for nearly 10 years in different countries. It all does not count here in Malta. We were lacking 3 months (1 3/4 years in Malta) but were able to get help from Maltese friends in higher positions for the government to vouch for our relationship.

I fear travelling around the world together for 3 years will not help you that much to gain residency for you non -EU partner.

Make sure that in the meantime your Brazillian partner is legally in Malta ! If a visa expires you are doomed to fail ! We nearly fell in that hole after all our hardwork to prove the durable relationship.

Cheers
Ricky
