Hi there,

Maybe I can answer a few of your questions even though I've been in Shenzhen for just 4 weeks.

1. The rent in Shekou area is generally higher than other places. 1 room 1 hall, maybe USD700 a month, I'm not sure

2. Either the Shenzhen Airport or HK airport will be fine. It will probably be easier to fly in via Shenzhen airport.

3. The internet speed is very high in China and you can get 4G mobile network for as little as USD $5 a month.

Thanks Eric.

Can share the 4G mobile you're mentioning, which provider is that? Thanks..

Hi
I am Chinese and live in Shenzhen now.
Maybe I can reply you
1) 1 room 1 hall, 300-500USD,however, some  apartments is not allow to rented by foreigner as the security problems . for example, private house. you can look for some good and cheaper apartments in sz.58.com, if you can read a little Chinese.
2) Shenzhen airport, it is very  convenient from airport to shekou by metro
3)home internet speed is good, 1300-1800RMB/ year, 8M-16M, I think it is enough. mobile internet? unichina if 3G, (10010.com), 30-180rmb/month,
Chinamoblie if 4G (chinamobileltd.com/en/global/home.php) 35-200rmb/month.  you can visit the website.

Thanks bro..  Will check the website..

Any idea what's the agent fee for rental? 1 month for 2 years contract?

baosam

Normally there is no any agent fee if you can  rent directly from the landlord, guaranteue deposit is the rent *1 or 3,  the rent contact is half year or one year, it is flexible and you can talk with the landlord. also, you can pay the rent as each month if you can speak a little Chinese.

Or you can ask a rent agent ,  the agent fee is 200USD-400USD, it be one-time charge, sometime, they ask a higher rent fee , it is better that you can ask a friend who live in Shenzhen to help you, it will save lot of money and time.
As I know , Shenkou is one concentrated place  of  foreigners.

Good luck.
