Now that he has been elevated this week at Expat.com for surpassing 1,000 posts...we take a look at the Top Ten Reasons that Cuenca blogger Nards Barley Should Be Elected Presidente...

Reason #10:  As an Expat.com "VIP", he is an Ecuadorian icon, popular with Gringos and local "Nardistas" alike...

#9:  Nards would never "double sell" Ecuador's oil rights that have already been promised to the Chinese, to any other world power....

#8: Nards has many contacts in southern Ecuador and some at the EC beach communities.  See the famous photo Nards Barley and Police Patrol Survey the Ecuadorian Beachfront, posted by Nards earlier this year on Expat.com....

#7: Nards believes in returning to private life after public service, and so would never maneuver the Ecuadorian Congreso to allow him to become Presidente for Life....

#6: Nards would consider restoring the thousands of jobs that were lost when El Supremo got all the casinos closed in 2011...

#5: The Ecuadorian people elected one Jamil Mahuad as EC Presidente in 1998.  So why not "Nards Barley" in 2017...

#4: Nards will promise never to take Ecuador 100% off the U.S. dollar.  He rejects mandatory universal usage of the new EC electronic "funny money"...

#3: Although Nards recently flunked the Spanish-language literacy exam, he is committed to learning what's necessary to pass it, and will no doubt achieve this goal by 2017.

#2: He understands the importance of reducing trade tariffs, including the new $42 commerce-killer and the high cheese tariffs that are keeping American, Swiss and Muenster cheeses off SuperMaxi shelves.

And the Number One Reason to Elect Nards Barley:

It's time to try a Gringo Presidente.

I didn´t think this thread would get much traction, and I was right. However, you make a convincing case nonetheless.
