Moving to Malta

Post new topic

melly100

Hi. I'm thinking of moving out to Malta and perhaps renting somewhere.
Please can you tell me if it would be difficult to find work in the hospitality industry IE bar manager etc.  I'm an ex publican with over thirty yrs experience and would like work in similar hospitality work.
Also approx how hard is it to find suitable inexpensive but decent accommodation?

Im looking at St Julians, bugiba or similar areas.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hello
Where are you from? if your from the EU you shouldn't find it that difficult to find work in the hospitality , the only thing i would say is they may be seasonal and often part-time , people who have bar and restaurant jobs tend to hold other jobs aswell.
Rental is relatively cheap however in tourist areas such as St Julians , Bugibba as you mentioned these can be very expensive depending on the time of year , however renting in the winter and signing a long term lease can help to reduce this price .
obviously with the kind of work your looking for you would find it easier to leave near these areas as they are extremely popular with tourists.
if you look for rental propeties ,slightly further inland this can help to reduce costs too

Thank you for your reply. Im actually Blackpool, England. I have been coming to Malta for over forty years on holiday and have met some wonderful people.

I am hoping to come back for a few weeks in May so I intend visiting a couple of estate agents that have been mentioned on here and also ask around for work.  My husband is retired and is a bit older than me and we have his military pension to live off but i need to work or will go stir crazy no matter which country im in haha!!

I have read through the forum and found some very useful tips and advice which i will definitely be taking on board when im looking for accommodation.

The other question I have is about bringing my two dogs with me? is this a difficult and expensive procedure. Sorry to ask so many questions but sometimes advice is far better coming from those who have gone through similar than reading online.
