Renting an apartment or house in Medellin or the other major cities in Colombia can be a bit tricky. Generally the places that you will find that are for rent are through real estate agencies. In order to rent through these agencies, you will need two Colombian guarantors. Your best bet is to find the owner and deal with him or her directly. They will forego the agency for an upfront 3 to 6 month advance on the rent. It helps if you have a working knowledge of spanish as your chances of finding a bilingual owner are slim.
