Daycare for young children

What daycare options are available for young children? Most I've searched don't accept children under 20months even then options are limited.
What do people do who have to work yet have young kids? In Australia most daycare/childcare accept children from 6 weeks.

Hello,
This is probably not the answer you are looking for, but from what I've seen most people hire a nanny to take care of their young children. I haven't heard of a daycare that accepts very young children, although I only know what my friends, who are parents, tell me.

Just hesitant to leave a small baby with someone unknown to me. How can I guarantee that the person is trustworthy and qualified to look after a baby?
