Laundry in CR

Post new topic

hiccups

Me and my wife are thinking about moving there.  I'm curious how most handle laundry.  Is buying a machine not realistic?  Is there a service?  How do you get it to the laundymat on a scooter at best?

What do you mean by CR ?
Anyway having a waching machine at home will help if you have to wash clothes, towel and bed linen every week.
You need space to dry them outside it does not worth investing in thumble dryer ( if you do take a separate machine from the washing machine and not one doing all, as you will get more trouble and when broken you can not wash ).
I don't have scooter, but people can deliver bottle of gas on scooters ( 2 wheels not the the 3 wheels ) !!
There are cheap washing machine ( loading above and rotor vertical ) different than what you can have in Europe loading in front and rotor horizontal, price difference can be big between the both, price will vary also because of the brand, number of kgs, features, programmes, inverter system to save on electricity, ....count around 16,000 - 25,000 THB for Electrolux, Siemens depending on the model, some machine like the one you load on top with rotor vertical sometimes does not have hot water and sometimes you need to move the clothes to another compartment to spin,...

Never done that

If buy a machine, buy a front load, The top load, don´t wash as good. Imo
I can clear see the different for when we use top load, and buy a front load our self.

Other then that, many place around Thailand have Laundry service inside a few 100 meter of where you going to live.
If live on a Soi that have Thai people it that area all so, there is normal a women or 2, That can do it for you for a few Baht per kg.

Last place i live nearly 2 years ago, the Laundry service i use, come pickup the dirty cloth, and bring it back when finish, no additional cost, beside the kg price.

Laundry problem huh???  LOL not a big problem. many of the condos or houses come with a washing machine and you hang them out on your balcony or outside. Also many apartment buildings have a cleaning service that reasonably priced. In my case there's 2 cleaners within a block of me... I use them mostly to sew on buttons. I did buy a nice new "Toshiba" washing machine. New for around 9k baht. they had cheaper and much more expencive models there. And finally there are launderettes here and there with coin operated machines. so not to worry over the small stuff..... Good luck!!
