hello. my friend went to Dubai with a visit visa.while looking for a job,an american businessman offered him a part time driving job.to pay for his food and lodging expenses, he accepted the job.soon,his boss asked for his passport claiming that its for security reasons, since my friend was entrusted with the vehicle.in good faith, he gave his passport just to keep the job he badly needed.before his visa expired,my friend asked for his passport but did not get any clear answer.he was told that his visit visa will be renewed for him and didnt have to pay for anything.he refused.he wanted to go back to the Philippines so bad.his boss renewed his visit visa through a PRO.the boss then went to a trip outside Dubai and now my friend was left hanging in Dubai,not knowing where his passport is.i advised him to go to the phil embassy but he's worried about being charged for working with a visit visa.does anybody have any suggestion on what my friend should do?thanks!

Hi Kaye, welcome to Expat.com:)

I really feel sorry for your friend! Doesn't he have a contact number for the American guy? at least to call him and now when he will be back?

Otherwise I would strongly advise him to report to the Philippes Embassy where maybe he can get an emergency travel document to enable him to go back home!

It is still better than to remain as an illegal in UAE!
