It's been a Year

Rob, Its great to see such a positive Post, I do always enjoy reading your posts as you have a great positive outlook.

I have been here now for 4 years, fully intended to move over here but circumstances changed in the UK and essentially it meant that i had to work. We own our property here and in reality have never had as much problems as it seems others have.

Things get thrown at you but you stop, regroup and move on.

For all those that are considering the move...... always have these in your mind,
1. If i dont do it will i regret it in the future ?
2. If i do it and dont like it will i really lose that much ?
3. Have I got enough money to keep me going if i cant get a Job. ?

remember now is the time to get work here, loads of places are getting ready for the Summer including bars, restaurants, hotels etc.

Goood to hear things aew workinng out well ,Rob. We are celebrating our 3 month anniversary today and all is well aprt from my wife being somewhat homesick. I am sure this will pass and it is odd that I haven't even thought about the UK as I thought it would be me feeling initially homesick. I have a full time job, wanted part time as luckily have the funds to do so but hey ho, beggers and choosers. All the best and we will meet up in the summertime, promise !

Thank you for a happy and inspiring post. So nice read that even after a bumpy start everything has worked out for you both. Hope you had a nice celebration in the sun.

we moved out here nearly 4 years ago, and I definitely wouldn't go back, my  kids have done really well and adjusted to being here and going to school here. they have fitted in really well and as well as working I am now juggling driving my kids around to various activities and groups through out the week. I came over here for a job and am still working at the same place  - as the boss is a friend. But we have just bought a house over here after a few years of renting, and now deciding to settle for good, the kids are at school here for the next 10 years so we are here for the same time at least.  life for us is settled here and its good, somethings better, somethings trickier, but overall, a great up bringng for my kids which is the main thing, they are learning Maltese at great schools, have plenty of friends, and a better social life than me!
Any doubts about coming over here???? try it and see. I had a well paid job in UK, my kids were at private school/nursery, but I got a job offer from a friend over here, and 10 months later, finally moved over and not looked back. We all love it and I can't even look at moving back to UK, there is nothing there that interests me.
Yes things can be hard and frustrating, but the benefits out weigh the negatives by far. Don't live your life by regrets, try it, if it doesn't work, at least you can say you have tried it, instead of wishing you had tried it but not been brave enough or not had enough money in the bank, or the job wasn't right. blah blah blah. if you want to try and live abroad you will make it happen, if you have doubts, then it won't happen or it will fail because it doesn't live up to what you want or expect.
