moving to uk with eu residence card

Post new topic

BES1234

Hi all,
I am a non eu citizen and my husband is British. We currently living in Malta and in the process of getting our maltese residence card. We re thinking of moving to UK ASAP. Does anybody know what the rules are to move to the UK as an eu residence? Does my maltese residence card will be enough for me to go to UK and apply for uk residency once we re there?

Thanks

How long has your husband lived and worked outside the UK but inside the EU? If it's a lengthy period you may be able to move to the UK using an EEA family visa.
See https://www.gov.uk/family-permit/surinder-singh
Otherwise you would need to apply for a UK spouse visa. Either way, the Maltese residence card is useless.
