Culture vultures in Malta

I'm enjoying my winter breaks in Malta, it's easy to slot into the expat/Maltese social life, even if it's just drinking and chatting, which is fine by me.

But there's another side to me: anything cultural, theatre, classical music, opera, movies etc, and actually Malta is a surprisingly good place for such things considering its size!

Anyone know of any organisations/groups/individuals interested in culture-based activities? I'm currently in Scotland but will be back in Malta in January.

I couldn't agree more. There are loads of fine things in the arts going on in Malta. Perhaps particularly in Valletta - it may be a small town, but it's also the capital of a nation, with a theatre, an orchestra, a splendid arts centre at St James, and a swathe of foreign cultural institutes each doing their own distinctive thing. Also, the wonders of modern technology (and perhaps also the wonders of modern cost pressures and the need to drum up new income streams) mean that we're offered opera and theatre performances relayed from America, Britain, and Europe.

I'd be very happy to compare notes with people who find all this interesting.
