Fee vs Commissioned Financial Advisor

Hi all,

I'm here in Vietnam, and looking to set up a financial advisory business. Fee only is my business model. This is popular in the states, because it takes away the conflict of interest of getting paid by commission.

This concept of fee only seems rare in SE Asia. I see the player are dominated by commissioned house like Globaleye & Devere.

Just need some feedback from the expat community here if this service would be beneficial.

Yup. Commission-based models dominate here. As an expat lawyer, I've been pestered by Devere on many occasions - they're notorious for their insistent cold calls.

A fee-based model could work, and would be something I may be keen to explore. Have you dipped your toes in SE Asia yet?

However, depending on your scope of business, a company in asset management is not going to be easy to set up. Feel free to message me privately for more details on set up.
