Driving License

The discussion on driving licenses seems very old. I wonder if there's any current information.

The trouble is, I'm getting conflicting information from various sites.

The jpj website says that there's no need for persons from these countries (http://www.jpj.gov.my/web/eng/acceptanc … ng-license) to get a license at all. Most blogs/websites though say that the license is valid only for three months, and then a conversion/licenssing becomes necessarily (at least technicall). So which is it, could someone explain?

I'm an Indian citizen with a valid driving license in my country. Could someone tell me what the process would be?

The other issue is of conversion. Again, I was told by colleagues here tht the process would involve the Indian Embassy and even possibly Indian Road Transport Department (which means taht the application would require their endorsement). Is that so?

Ask your High Commission after reading what they say on their website

The question is whether if a person holds an immigration status in Malaysia, that makes it necessary to get a local driving licence (i.e. the person has visa valid for not less than 3 months).
