Hi,

Living in a foreign country implies to discover its culture, to learn and master the cultural codes.

How did you deal with that? Share with us your culture shock stories where you experienced a funny or awkward moment in the United Arab Emirates.

What is your advice regarding the don’ts and what would you recommend to avoid any mistake?

Thank you in advance for sharing your stories,

Christine

Hi Every one!
Greetings!!! ;-)

Culture Shock ? Arabian....... This is every where except in countries which have extreeeeeemly strict laws.
For one who has visited a couple of places, The UAE would come as a Shock only to those who have not been out of UAE. As for most UAE'ites or the Gulf nation. Most Gulfies are now getting educated abroad. and for first timers abroad it is a welcome Shock and they adapt to it an in many cases bring it back home. In self dressing and or as Brides.

India is no new comer to this. But the most important and awesome response to all of this is the UAE Government and the Citizens of this Country.

My Hats off to each one of them as to how gracefully they have accepted us into their Country. They have accommodated all of us as one big family.

They have taken every step to ensure this is a home away from home. They have catered to all our requirements.
Most of all making this place a PEACE HEAVEN.
It is not we feel safe but WE ARE SAFE.

Not many of us carry this feeling back home. Right from the humdrum of daily chores and work to the unwinding on weekends. A thought always lingers, Aer we Safe?
Never once do we have to feel insecure here in the UAE.

I am in admiration, AWE struck and Thankful for being in a country who's culture is so Humble and Simple yet has managed to be an example of Hospitality to the World.

Thank you Dear Rulers Of the UAE.
God bless you and your people for making us feel at home.
.

YES TO ME THIS IS THE GREATEST CULTURE SHOCK!!!!!!!!
and to US believing this is HOME.

Regards

Ashley

Very encouraging!I have been thinking of moving and I am really worried about cultural differences it is nice to hear of such a good experience! If people are friendly to foreigners who respect their traditions then this place could become a home away from home

For me I found it strange getting used to being the ethnic minority! You can sometimes feel a bit left out when everyone is speaking their own language - I only speak English and it made me realise I should really try to learn another!

Everyone is really friendly though and always try to make you feel welcome.
