Please Help to Save Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary!

Post new topic

RubyMarie

Please sign this petition to ask the Maltese Government to live up to their promise to Noah's Ark Sanctuary.

The Maltese government promised the sanctuary funds for 2010 and they have failed to keep their promise.  The sanctuary received their last cheque in April...now they depend only on public donations.
Noah's Ark

Noah's Ark is a sanctuary for homeless/abused dogs in Malta.  The sanctuary is at a maximum capacity and depends on volunteers to run the day to day care of the sanctuary.  They have a policy never to put a dog down unless it's in pain or a danger to humans.

The founder of Noah's Ark, Fabio Clapper says "Unless the government helps us out, like it had said it would, we will have to close down by the end of the year".

If you want to help further please have a look at our facebook group "save noahs ark" for more information.

Kindly pass this petition on, click on the right hand corner facebook icon on this page and share with your friends....we need as many signatures as possible.

Noah's Ark Petition

So far we have 946 signatures which is awesome considering the goal is 1000! We're getting close now but of course much more would be great!

No matter how many signatures are collected, the Government will not fund Noah's Ark's food bill (which it what this is all about) - why not ?

1. thay would have to similarly fund all the other animal sanctuaries - no animal sanctuary gets govt funding for food, or any other recurrent expenses (other than the provision of up to 2 Govt workers per sanctuary, which is not really an expense as its a reallocation of existing workers who would never be sacked)
2. the govt only funds one-off projects, not on-going ones like food - this is commonsense, as the govt sets its budget annually, so cannot make long term commitments
3. the govt (through the animal welfare dept) offered to take all the dogs in question from Noah's Ark, but Noah's Ark refused to take them up on the offer - as such, the govt believes its fulfilled its promise

I'm not saying the govt is in the right, merely pointing out the harsh reality

Thanks for the info, obviously I know this and unfortunately I know how things work.
It just seems that people in this country like to sit on their asses with their mouths shut, turn and look the other way at times. From my experience, it seems that for some reason, even though a business, an employer or even the government is in the wrong or taking advantage of people (not saying about this specific case with Noah's Ark in the way of taking advantage), that even though everyone knows their rights, Maltese law etc-they still don't say or do anything because they are seemingly afraid to cause a scene, make a fuss, stand up for something they believe in or for what is right. Before everyone jumps in on this and adds their two cents as well- know that I'm not saying that this is how it is. I'm saying that from MY experience this is what has happened and what I have encountered.

Those of us that support this petition and the Noah's Ark Sanctuary are simply trying to get the word out and voices heard. Since again, no one else seems to want to step up to the plate and try to help or shed light to the subject. If all this falls on deaf ears, so be it. But at least I can feel better about knowing we tried to help an organization that really needs it.

What Noah's Ark really needs is more help with fundraising - maybe a week of collecting on the streets around Malta ? Animal welfare NGOs have to be self funding to survive - the problem is that many get too big compared to the funding they can raise.

In all honesty, help with fundraising will be of far more use than a petition which will be ignored.

I don't know what their annual income and expenditure is as they don't put their accounts on their website, but they've mentioned their food bill is around € 16,000 per annum.

I agree, more fundraising and help in that area would be quite beneficial for them. There are so many more things that they could be doing that in all honesty would not cost a thing- just time from volunteers. They need someone with fresh ideas and not the same old thing to try and reach out to the communities. They have been organizing some fundraisers themselves but from what I can see they only advertise on their website. Not a very good way to get your name out there while trying to get donations in my opinion. So much more could be done

They haven't even put on their website (using the link you gave above) that they are in financial difficulties, or any details of upcoming events
