Volunteering in Myanmar

Post new topic

Maximilien

Hi,

While living abroad, some expats wish to get involved in the local community life.

What organizations expats can turn to if they want to volunteer in Myanmar?

How to join a charitable institution, what are the steps?

Which causes have the greatest need for volunteers in Myanmar?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience and advice,

Maximilien

Volunteering is great anywhere. The larger monasteries often welcome volunteers to help teach English to the novices and monks. There is also a Salvation Army Home that needs support.

I'm coming to Myanmar on Oct 21 until Oct 26,
planning to volunteer at Thabarwa centre in Yangon.

Any lead of other place at Bagan or Mandalay or nearby are welcome.
Since I will travel, so I just want to spend one day maximum.

I've known about Mahasala monastery education school of Monk Owen,
however it's in Mingun and take time to travel,
so it may not included in my trip.
