If you are bachelor, it depends on how and where you want to stay. For instance if you want to stay in a fully furnished 1 bedroom flat, it will cost you AED 50k-75k per annum. If you want a 2 bedroom fully furnished flat it will cost you between AED 60k-85k per annum or sometimes even more AED 100k + for luxurious apartments.
If you prefer to stay in a single private room, it will cost you AED 2000-3500 per month for a fully furnished room depending on location and size of room. There is also bed space available on sharing basis ranging between AED 600-1000 per month per person, depending on number of beds in the room/size of room/location of the room. It all depends on how you want to live. Unless you are okay with sharing the toilet with someone, you have to shell out minimum 2000 AED pm - that will be a bit far from city as well.
In short if you are single, my suggestion is to go maximum for a single room AED 2000-3000 per month as the budget. If you are okay to share a bed space, with around 3-4 people in one room, it will be only AED 650-1000 per bed space. Try checking dubizzle.com for more info. I wonder what you will do in an apartment with kitchen and all stuff, as you can find Indian hotels and food. Again, food and hotels also have their own standards and costs. If you want to go and have vegetarian food from Sangeetha, Bhavna and other similar restaurants, it will cost you around 10-15 AED for breakfast, 15-25 AED for lunch and around 15-20 AED for dinner. If you are visiting some normal Indian restaurants(like Evergreen on Hamdan), a plate of 3 chappathis with sabji(of your choice) is just around 8 AED. Lunch should be around 15 AED max in such restaurants, and there are even cheaper alternatives. There is the bigger Evergreen rest on Electra st near Eldorado cinema, where a proper Indian veggie lunch costs around 14 AED. There are pakistani restaurants on electra 2nd street, where 2 pakistani roti with bhindi costs only 8 AED. There are a lot of Indian restaurants on Electra first street near ADCB building. Non-vegetarians dont have any issues as it is easy to find. If you are a pure veggie, and dont want to eat veggie food from a mixed(non-veg) restaurant, then you will have other relatively costly alternatives like Sangeetha rest & Bhavna rest on Hamdan street, Sangam, Chappan bhog etc., even Salam Bombay restaurant is there - budget will be betwen 15-20 AED per person. Go there, have a look around, get in touch with friends and colleagues, they will show you the way, nothing to worry much.
There are also a lot of very cheap small Indian restaurants(like mess) on hamdan street, where it is possible to find Indian food(dosa - normal, masala, rava etc., idly, vada, chapathi, parota, sabji, tamil foods like pongal etc., chicken/beef/mutton/egg curry, omelet, and all local stuff) - such cheap restaurants are very good as well - 3 AED for plain dosa, 2 AED for vada, 7-9 AEd for chicken/mutton/beef curry, 1 AED for each chapathi/parota, 5 AED for sabji/egg curry etc.,
If you take public transport, the charges will be debited to your transport card, which is only 2 AED for one way trip, which is cheaper. You can also load monthly passes to your transport card for just around 85 AED per month, unlimited trips across city routes from 1st to 31st of the month.
Taxi is also available, about 5 AED for a 1km trip. Buses are plenty, you can easily find one in your office route. A can of coke costs 1.50 AED, a bread pack(medium) costs about 5-6 AED, other things find in some sites like numbeo.com. Fruits like apple/orange is about 6-12 AED per kg(depending on variety/natural/artificially grown)
Just try to find your housing/room sorted out as soon as possible. To conclude, just dont worry much, plan your expenses, enjoy your stay and you will find Abu Dhabi very interesting. If you get married, it might be a very different story(which I cannot help you), otherwise, bachelors can enjoy.
