Arriving in Ho Chi Minh Airport is not a problem but getting to the city center is sometimes a problem especially arriving at night. Your only option of public transportation is taxi during night time. For your own security and safety take the taxi if you have a very late arrival

If you arrived in daytime the cheapest way to reach the center is the "white/blue" bus. Less than one dollar you reach the city of Saigon. We staying at the tourist area district 1 Pham Ngu Lao Street. The bus don't go that far, but you can ask the driver to stop closer to that area so you have less walk to do

Ignore the taxis, unless you have dozens of luggage or you have money to burned. Or maybe you want a comfort ride then go ahead take the taxi. Taxi is indeed comfy! if you are lucky to have an honest driver

Taxi cost us more than 300,000 dong from the city center to the airport, as we have no time catching bus going back to the airport

The bus No. 152 air-conditioned airport bus is the cheapest way to the city from the airport. For 6,000 dong per person plus a 4,000 dong fee for bags which varies randomly, the bus will drop you off at the east end of the Pham Ngu Lao area, or at the bus terminal on the south side of the Ben Thanh Market roundabout.

Upon exiting the international airport terminal, turn right and you should see the bus waiting on the road opposite Burger King. There is no sign indicating where the bus stop is, but if you ask a uniformed taxi warden he or she will point it out to you. If not, walk down to the domestic terminal, which is about a three-minute walk away. Try to have exact change or you will be given coins in return.

Note: Ignore taxi drivers that may tell you there are no more airport buses. However, the bus is only available until 6pm.

The fee for bags range from an additional 4,000 dong for a smaller bag to 14,000 for two large bags. Try to have exact change or you will be given coins in return these are legal tender in Vietnam, but many places do not accept them.

Hope this will help some expats.

How about firing up your uber app and book a ride yourself? This way you won't have to worry about getting gouged. Besides, you could file a complaint with uber should the driver trying to mess with you.

Hi,

I think that i should a link here about bus stop
http://www.buyttphcm.com.vn/Detail_TTLT.aspx?sl=152

If you want to go somewhere places you can find a bus on that web, number of bus, time of start & end, and a bus stop. But on this web there is Vietnamese, not english language.

Otherway, you can use grabtaxi or grab rider (xe ôm), they can show you a price (cost) for distance street you want come. But if you want to use this taxi, you have to smartphone connect internet.
But, you have to be carefully when you use a smartphone at street (outside home)

I don't think 152 number bus can enter inside airport :-)
It's safe to pick a taxi from airport which the taxi company managers will enter in their log book. Better yo be safe than sorry!
Once you familiar with location,, can go by bus or motorbike taxi.

If you arrived around 4am, and if you decided to get the city with public transport, its slow but cheaper and safe in my opinion.bus 152 can take you to the center and will make a turn near backpackers area, if you on tight budget this will suit every traveller. One thing
the first glance of this city will amaze for some especially first timer of hcmc. also getting around with public buses is easier, grab the map from benthanh terminal and youre on the go,
this is suitable for the one who loves to navigate. and love the heat
