hi,
we are a small family with one todler and a baby on the way. we are originly israelis but used to live in india for the last 3 years and now, since boaz is in a process of getting a bulgarian citizenship [his mother is bulgarian.], we are planning to move to bulgaria.
we are looking for a place outside a city [ we are intrested in permacalture and love to bee in nature] but also not to far from aplace to get supplies, medical service etc..
we are looking for a place where you can find people who speaks english and a beat more of an international enviorment. it will be nice if there are some kids around as well.
we will be thankfull to get some information.
thank you all,
boaz and einav.

It's going to be tough living outside the city and expecting people to speak English. Even in the cities a lot of middle aged people (and older) don't speak English.

You should have a look at a place called Veliko Turnovo (alternatively spelled as Tarnovo). It's in the hills and it's surrounded by forests. I've visited the town twice and so have acquaintances of mine and there's a big English presence, but also expats from other countries. It shouldn't be too hard to find a place to live somewhere close to the town/city of V. Tarnovo. There are many (English speaking) real estate services there and the business is booming (so it might not be the cheapest place to settle (it's still cheap compared to Western Europe), but it does meet your requirements the most, it seems).

Just to tell you my experience with Bulgaria... about one year ago I moved to Bulgaria and lived there for half a year. Since moving back home, I spent about 1.5 months in Bulgaria because I have a Bulgarian girlfriend. I'm now living in Istanbul, but will occasionally visit Bulgaria of course :-) Next trip: next week! Can't wait :)

Hi There, my name is Harry. One of the nicest places to live is Veliko Tarnovo, VT. It used to be the old capital of Bulgaria and has a lot of history. It is surrounded by hills and forests with lots of Ecotrails. there are waterfalls, caves, roman ruins and picnic areas within a few minutes drive. There is an english bookshop in town, doctors who speak English, vets etc. Parvomicji and Samovodene are two villages between VT and Gorna Oriohavitsa. They are about 8km from VT and have a lot of English people. I know of an Asian american couple with children who have just bought a house in Parvomicji.

Hope this is of use to you.

If you need help with anything in this area contact Cliff at Trinity Rocks Farm, He helped me a lot.

I would like to ask some infos about Bansko.
How's the life there? Not only on skiing season.
I've heard that this year only Greeks and Bulgarian citizens were there. Tourism went too low because of the crisis!
Can any EU citizen buy a house there?
Can i buy for example 2-3 apartments in any place in Bulgaria?
What says the Law and how much is the tax for owning 2-3 apartments in Bulgaria?
Thanks in advance.

Why don't you consider living in outskirts of Varna.  In September 2004, FDI Magazine (a Financial Times publication) proclaimed Varna to be the ‘South-Eastern European City of the Future’, citing its strategic location, fast-growing economy, rich cultural heritage and higher education. Most of young people here speak good English.
