Hey guys,

Got myself something lined up in terms of work where I'd be receiving a salary in the area of 1600 euros, with a 7 month contract, first 6 weeks of training.. My concerns are basically with accommodation and weekly expenses so if anyone could help me with rough estimates I would really appreciate it.

Cheers!

tax deductions on the wages anyone have any ideas too?

That salary is just over the Dutch minimum wage; in my opinion, it's doable, but not in the ex-pat market place.

Tax is 37% on the first €19.645; on top of that you have to pay a contribution towards social funds  (unemployment or disability benefit), your employer should advise you how much that is.  Then you have to pay for Council tax (gemeente belasting - no idea how much, suggest you contact them); and medical insurance (circa €150 p/month).  Then you have to live (food, rent, electric etc).

Hope this helps.

I find living in Maastricht is rather cheap, accomodation wise. You will however have to fight the students for the best spots!!
